Code P1498 - EGR Valve Lift Sensor High
- Connect and operate scan tester, following manufacturer's instructions. Clear codes. Retrieve codes. If Code P1498 appears, go to next step. If Code 1459 does not appear, problem is intermittent. Inspect for poor connections or loose wires associated with EGR valve and ECM, then repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Turn ignition off. Unplug EGR valve lift sensor connector. Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between Green/White and Yellow/Blue wires at harness connector. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is approximately 5 volts, replace EGR valve.
- Measure voltage between 22-pin ECM connector terminals D11 (Green/White wire) and D21 (Yellow/Blue wire). If voltage is about 5 volts, repair open in Green/White wire between ECM and EGR valve lift sensor. If voltage is not about 5 volts, temporarily substitute known good ECM, then retest system.
