Air Temperature Sensor

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect airflow meter. Check air temperature sensor circuit of airflow meter by measuring resistance across airflow meter terminals No. 1 and No. 4 (Gray/Blue and Gray/Violet wire terminals).
  2. Compare resistance values with specification in AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not within specification, replace airflow meter.
AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE

Air Temperature - °F (°C) Ohms
14 (-10) 8,260-10,560
63-73 (17-23) 2,200-2,700
117-127 (47-53) 760-910
NOTE: On 525i, 535i and 735i models with self-diagnostics, a short or open in the air temperature sensor will set a Code 44. If Code 44 is set, MCU will operate engine with preset air temperature value.
