Computerized Engine Controls: Notes
Engine management system, which operates in conjunction with other computer-controlled systems, controls fuel injection and ignition under variable operating conditions. Other computer-controlled systems, listed as follows, can influence engine management system operation depending on requirements.
Electronic Transmission Control (EGS), A/C System, Anti-Theft System (DWA), Anti-Lock Brake System/Traction Control (ABS/ASC), Instrument Cluster and On-Board Computer.
Engine management system controls air/fuel mixture and exhaust emissions by adjusting fuel injection and ignition timing. Control unit receives and processes sensor input, and sends output signals to adjust injector pulse widths and ignition timing.
