Determining BCM Programed Key Code

  1. Connect VATS Interrogator and adapter to BCM side of White 2-pin ignition lock cylinder harness connector at base of steering column. DO NOT connect to steering column side of harness connector. Go to next step.
  2. Turn VATS Interrogator on. Move key code switch to "1" position and attempt to start engine. If engine starts, key code is "1". If engine does not start, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and press 4-minute timer on VATS Interrogator. When timer indicator goes out, move key code switch to next number and attempt to start engine. If engine does not start, repeat this step until proper key code is found. A total of 15 different ignition key resistance values are available.
