In-Vehicle Repair: Flywheel: Removal

  1. Remove the clutch disc. For additional information, refer to DISC AND PRESSURE PLATE .
  2. Use Dial Indicator/Magnetic Base and inspect the flywheel runout. If over specification, machine the flywheel.

  3. Install the (1) flywheel holding tool and remove the (2) flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts (6379). Remove the flywheel (6375).

  4. Inspect the flywheel for cracks, hot spots and scoring. If the flywheel friction surface is damaged, machining is required. If damage is found to the ring gear teeth, install a new ring gear.
