Valve Clearance Adjustment
- Remove valve cover. Rotate engine until zero degree timing mark is lined with match mark. Cylinder No. 1 should be at TDC. Remove distributor cap and ensuring that rotor is pointed at No. 1 spark plug wire terminal. If not rotate crankshaft 360 degrees.
- Check clearance of No. 1 and 2 intake valves, and cylinder No. 1 and 3 exhaust valves. Turn crankshaft one complete revolution. Check clearance of No. 3 and 4 intake valves, and cylinder No. 2 and 4 exhaust valves.
- Adjust valves by loosening locknut and turning adjustment screw until clearance is at specification. See VALVE CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS table. Hold adjustment screw while tightening lock nut and recheck clearance.
