Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  1. Install the steering gear to the frame and install the retaining bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the steering gear retaining bolts to 150 N.m (111 lb ft).

  2. Install the pitman arm. Refer to Pitman Arm Replacement .
  3. Install the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  4. Remove the safety stands.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement - Lower .
  7. Remove the caps or plugs from the steering gear and hoses.
  8. Install the hoses to the steering gear.

    Tighten:  Tighten the hoses fittings to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
