Detention Switch

Disconnect A/T device harness connector. Check for continuity between A/T device harness connector terminals No. 5 and 6. See Figure or Figure . Continuity should not exist with gearshift lever in "P" position. With the gearshift lever in any position other than "P" continuity should exist.
