Vacuum Amplifier

  1. Remove air cleaner. Disconnect vacuum hose from amplifier to EGR solenoid at solenoid valve.
  2. On all models, connect vacuum gauge to disconnected hose. Run engine at idle and disconnect vacuum hose from amplifier to carburetor at carburetor.
  3. Gauge reading should be 1.8-2.2 in. Hg. Reconnect hose to carburetor and slowly increase engine speed to 3500 RPM. Gauge should read 3.6 in. Hg. Replace vacuum amplifier, if it does not respond as outlined.
