Component Testing: Dashpot

  1. With engine off, push dashpot rod in. Ensure slight pressure is felt and rod moves slowly into dashpot. Quickly release rod, ensuring rod returns quickly.
  2. Bring engine to normal operating temperature and run engine at idle. Connect a tachometer. Increase engine speed to 3000 RPM. Slowly reduce engine speed and ensure dashpot rod contacts throttle lever at 2650-2950 RPM. If not within specifications, adjust by turning dashpot.
