Reed Valve

  1. Bring engine to normal operating temperature and stop engine. Remove air cleaner cover and element. Start and run engine at idle.
  2. Place a piece of paper over inlet port of reed valve. Verify that air is being drawn into reed valve. Increase engine speed to 2500 RPM. Holding a piece of paper over valve inlet, check for exhaust leakage through valve port. Replace reed valve if leakage is present.
