Starter Motor: Removal

WARNING: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable with the following procedures:
    1. Record all of the vehicle preset radio stations.
    2. Turn OFF all the lamps and the accessories.
    3. Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
    4. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. See Fig 1.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the starter. See Fig 2.
  4. Remove the starter bolts. See Fig 3.
  5. Remove the starter.
