Muffler Heat Shields: Installation

  1. Position the heat shield in place.
    NOTE: To prevent damage to the fuel tank, the special rivet (P/N 21011238), labeled A in illustration, must be used. Do not use a substitute rivet. See Fig 1 .
  2. Install heat shield rivets starting with two circled. Installing these rivets first aligns the shield.

  3. Install muffler hanger and strap nut.

    Torque: 

    Muffler Strap around Muffler: 22 N.m (16 ft-lbs)
