Engine Control Module: Installation
- Install the ECM and attachment bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
. Connect ECM J1 and J2 harness connectors. J1 harness connector has more wires in its harness and is the connector closest to the front of the vehicle.
- The connectors will only fit on one way. Make sure the connectors are fully seated and locked into position. It the ECM has been replaced, it must be programmed. Also program theft deterrent system components. See PROGRAMMING in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.
- Leave ignition ON for 1 minute to enable the ECM to learn the throttle body. Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds, then turn the ignition back ON. Clear all DTCs. The ECM will automatically learn the crankshaft variation while driving. No manual procedure is required.
