Powertrain Control Module: Installation

  1. Slide PCM into rear lip of PCM bracket. Push down on PCM until 2 retaining clips are secure. Connect PCM J1 and J2 harness connectors. Connect negative battery cable. Tighten battery terminal bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. If a new PCM is being installed, it MUST be reprogrammed with new software and calibrations. After reprogramming PCM, perform crankshaft position variation learn procedure and programming theft deterrent system components. See PROGRAMMING  .
  3. Verify no DTCs exist. If one exists, refer to the specific DTC diagnostic test. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article. Reset clock and preset radio stations.
