Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in Air Bag Restraint Systems. . Pull up on the control boot until the indicator bezel disengages from the console.

  2. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  3. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the control cable from the control assembly.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the indicator bezel.
  5. Remove the control cable retaining clip.
  6. Press the tabs on the control cable and remove the cable from the control assembly.
  7. Disconnect the control cable from the transaxle range switch lever.

  8. Remove the control cable retaining clip.
  9. Press the 2 tabs on the control cable and remove the cable from the control cable bracket.
  10. Remove the control cable grommet from the dash panel.
  11. Remove the control cable from the vehicle.
