Camshaft Position Sensor (2AZ-FE): Replacement

NOTE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.
INITIALIZE SYSTEMS

Power Window Control System INITIALIZATION
Sliding Roof System INITIALIZATION
  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSY NO. 1 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
    2. Remove the bolt, then camshaft position sensor.

  4. INSTALL CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the camshaft position sensor.

    2. Install the camshaft position sensor with the bolt.
      1. Torque: 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) 
      NOTE: Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or jammed when installing.
    3. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.

  5. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
    1. Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) 
  6. CHECK FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKAGE 
  7. INSTALL ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSY NO. 1 (See  REPLACEMENT  )
