On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the tester ON.
    4. Turn the air conditioning switch ON.
    5. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1).
    6. Check the engine speed when the OCV is operated by the Techstream.

      OK 

      CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE POSITION

      Condition Specified Condition
      OCV is OFF (-128%) Normal engine speed
      OCV is ON (0%) Rough idle or engine stalled

      If the result is not acceptable, cool the engine and perform the inspection again before working the final judgement.

    7. Check the engine speed when the OCV is operated using the Techstream with the engine coolant temperature is 50°C or lass.

      HINT:

      • When performing the active test, the air conditioning should be ON.
      • Engine coolant temperature when engine is started should be 30°C or less.
