Idle Speed Control (ISC) System: 2.0L

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Ensure idle speed is correct. Apply parking brake, block drive wheels and place transaxle in Neutral.
  2. Unplug ISC valve connector on bottom of throttle body. Engine RPM should increase 1000 RPM or more. Plug in ISC valve connector. Engine should return to idle speed (750-850 RPM). If engine RPM does not respond as specified, check ISC valve, wiring to ECU, and ECU grounds.
  3. To check ISC valve, turn ignition off. Unplug ISC valve connector on bottom of throttle body. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between center terminal and each outer terminal individually. See Figure. Replace valve if resistance is not 19.3-22.3 ohms.
