Automatic Transmission - Removal And Installation

- Change seal
- Position gearbox against engine
- Secure gearbox to engine
- Attach gearbox mounting to side of body
- Diesel cars: Fit fuel filter
- Remove lifting brace
- Fit retaining bolts to top side of gearbox
- Fit starter motor
- Fit left-hand drive shaft
- Secure wheel axle to shock absorber
- Connect lead to reversing light switch
- Connect gearbox ground cable
- Diesel cars: Fit intercooler
- Fit right-hand drive shaft and speedometer cable to gearbox
- Fit the wheel
- Fit gear selector rod
- Fit central longitudinal member
- Fit heat shield
- Fill gearbox with oil
- Fit left-hand engine cover
- Gas engine cars: Fit front engine protector
- Fit pulse sensor
- Fit hydraulic clutch cylinder to gearbox
- Diesel cars: Fit intercooler hoses
- Fit air filter
- Fit inlet air hose
- Fit
- Check
- Removing transmission
- Notes
- Remove engine compartment components
- Remove air intake hose
- Remove flywheel sensor
- Remove cable guide from engine and cable from clips x 3
- Remove cable guide from clutch bracket
- Disconnect hydraulic pipe for clutch from junction
- Install support
- Removing mechanical gear selector cables from transmission
- Remove screwed joint, transmission/engine
- Slacken off drive shaft nut on left side
- Remove front wheels and splashguards
- Remove stay on front cross member
- Remove on left and right-hand sides
- Remove drive shaft on left-hand side
- Remove at wheel side
- Remove drive shaft from transmission
- Remove longitudinal member
- Remove front exhaust pipe from engine
- Disconnect on right side
- Remove transmission brackets
- Lower engine until distance between lifting beam and lifting eyelet is approximately 200 mm
- Connect fixture
- Remove remaining screws between engine and transmission (7 x)
- Carefully remove transmission from engine
- Transmission, installing, turbocharged engines

- Cleaning and lubricating input shaft
- Checking before installing
- Install transmission
- Raise engine/transmission to horizontal position
- Install mounting on transmission
- Install brackets in garages
- Install right driveshaft
- Install support member under engine
- Fit left-hand drive shaft
- Checking left-hand side drive shaft
- Tighten wheel spindle/spring strut nuts/screws to 90 Nm
- Attach hose to intercooler/charge air pipe
- Check transmission fluid level and install protective plate and wheels
- Attach pipe to branching and bracket and install branching clip
- Attach and tighten hose clip and retaining clamp to charge air pipe
- Install engine compartment components

- Cleaning and lubricating input shaft
- Input shaft, cleaning
- Checking before installing

- Raise engine/transmission to horizontal position
- Mount transmission mounting on transmission and body
- Mounting brackets in gear case, installing
- Drive shaft right-hand side, installing
- Longitudinal member, installing
- Front exhaust pipe, installing
- Transverse support member, installing
- Drive shaft left-hand side, installing
- Drive shaft left-hand side, checking
- Tighten wheel spindle/spring strut nuts/screws to 90 Nm
- Check and fill transmission fluid
- Protective covers and wheels, installing
- Attach connecting pipe to branching and bracket
- Flywheel sensor, installing
- Gear selector cables and clips on transmission, installing
- Connect transmission ground connection.
- Engine compartment components, installing
- Air intake hose
- Gearbox, fitting
