Defective Front Relay

  1. Remove front relay. Test front relay. See RELAY in this article. Replace relay is any test fails. If okay, using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between Black wire and ground. If there is no continuity, repair open circuit. If there is continuity, turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between Yellow/Black wire and ground.
  2. If there is not 12 volts, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between No. 17 fuse and relay. If there is 12 volts, turn ignition off. Check for continuity in Brown/Black wire between fail-safe relay and solenoid. If there is no continuity, repair open circuit. If there is continuity, ensure front solenoids are connected. If not, repair as necessary. If okay, replace ECM and retest.
