Purge Control Vacuum

  1. With engine coolant temperature less than thermovalve or purge cut-off solenoid operating temperature, disconnect upper vacuum hose from purge control valve. See PURGE OPERATING TEMPERATURE  table.
  2. Connect vacuum gauge to hose. Start engine and let idle. Vacuum should not be present. If there is vacuum on Integra EFI models, test purge cut-off solenoid valve. See PURGE CUT-OFF SOLENOID VALVE test. If there is vacuum on all other models, replace thermovalve and retest.
  3. On all models, if there is no vacuum, run engine at idle until normal operating temperature has been obtained. Observe vacuum gauge. If vacuum is not present, replace thermovalve or test purge cut-off solenoid valve. On solenoid control systems, vacuum signal should be delayed about 5 seconds after each warm restart.
