Air Induction Systems: Dashpot

  1. Check vacuum hose for blockage or leaks. Disconnect vacuum hose from dashpot. Connect vacuum pump/gauge to diaphragm vacuum-supply hose. Apply vacuum and ensure vacuum bleeds out slowly.
  2. If vacuum holds steadily or bleeds out rapidly, replace dashpot check valve and retest. Connect vacuum pump/gauge directly to diaphragm fitting. Apply vacuum. Ensure dashpot rod pulls in and vacuum holds. If not, replace diaphragm and retest.
