Ignition Timing

  1. Run engine until cooling fan comes on. Locate Light Gray connector at right side (under dash), next to blower motor. Connect terminals of the ignition timing adjusting connector with a jumper wire. See Fig 1 .
  2. Red mark on crankshaft pulley should align with pointer. See Fig 2 . If Red mark and pointer are not aligned, adjust base ignition timing by turning distributor. See IGNITION TIMING  table. Remove jumper wire from ignition timing adjusting connector.

    Application Degrees BTDC @ RPM
    Manual Transmission 14-18 @ 700-800
    Automatic Transmission (1) 14-18 @ 700-800
    (1) Automatic transaxle in Neutral.
