Commutator Test
- If commutator runout is greater than specification, turn commutator on a lathe until runout is within specification. See appropriate COMMUTATOR SPECIFICATIONS table. If commutator runout exceeds service limit, replace armature.
- If commutator wear is less than .008" (.20 mm) on Nippondenso or .006" (.15 mm) on Mitsuba, use a hacksaw blade to undercut insulating mica to specification. See appropriate COMMUTATOR SPECIFICATIONS table.
