Parking Brake: Legend

  1. Parking brake shoes are in rear brake disc. Parking brake should hold when parking brake lever is pulled up 8-12 clicks. If number of clicks is excessive, minor adjustments (1-2 clicks) can be made by adjusting equalizer. For minor adjustment, go to next step. For major adjustment, go to step  3 .
  2. Remove end cover from parking brake console. Pull parking brake lever up one click. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Tighten equalizer adjusting nut until slight drag is felt when wheels are turned. Release parking brake lever. Ensure wheels do not drag. Readjust if necessary. With equalizer properly adjusted, parking brake should be fully applied when parking brake lever is pulled up 8-12 clicks.
  3. Release parking brake lever. Remove end cover from parking brake console. Back off equalizer adjusting nut. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Using brake spoon, turn adjuster up until brake shoes lock and then back off 8 stops.
  4. Tighten equalizer adjusting nut so parking brake is fully applied when parking brake lever is pulled up 8-12 clicks. Install rear wheels. Ensure rear wheels do not drag when parking brake lever is released. Readjust if necessary. Install console rear cover.
