Temperature Gauge Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1991 Acura Legend and 1991 Acura Integra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check for blown 7.5-amp fuse No. 23 (Integra) or 15-amp fuse No. 13 (Legend) in dash fuse box. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Yellow/Green wire from sending unit. Ground sending unit wire using a jumper wire. Turn ignition on. Gauge needle should start moving toward "H" mark on gauge.
  2. Ensure to turn ignition off within 2 seconds or before gauge needle reaches "H" mark. Failure to turn ignition off before needle reaches "H" mark may damage temperature gauge.
  3. If temperature gauge needle does not move, check open circuit in Yellow or Yellow/Green wires. Replace temperature gauge if fuse and wiring are okay. If gauge is okay, check temperature sending unit.
