Idle Speed: Notes

NOTE: For other input components in idle speed circuit, see INPUT DEVICES  under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS.

Idle speed is controlled by Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) and fast idle control valve. IACV varies amount of air by-passing into intake manifold according to input signals received from PCM. When IACV is activated, valve operates to maintain proper idle speed. On Integra, a dashpot slows the closing of throttle valve during gear shifting (M/T) and deceleration.
