Wheel Sensor Signal Confirmation

NOTE: Use the ALB checker (mode zero) to confirm proper wheel sensor operation.
NOTE: Rotating a wheel too slowly will produce only a weak blink of its monitor light that may be difficult to see. In bright sunlight, the monitor light may be difficult to see. Perform tests in a shaded area. In some instances, it may not be possible to spin rear wheels fast enough to get a monitor indication, if necessary, start engine and slowly accelerate and decelerate rear wheels. Monitor lights should blink indicating a good wheel sensor signal.
  1. Disconnect 6-pin inspection connector from connector cover (located under glove compartment). Connect appropriate ALB checker to 6-pin inspection connector. See Figure .
  2. Raise vehicle so all four wheels are off the ground and support on safety stands.
  3. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  4. Turn the Mode Selector switch to zero.
  5. With transmission in neutral, rotate each wheel briskly (one revolution per second) by hand, verify its respective monitor light on ALB checker blinks as wheel rotates. If any monitor light fails to blink, check suspected sensor, its air gap and its wiring/connectors. See WHEEL SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
