Low Fuel Indicator

  1. Check fuel gauge sending unit operation. See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT  under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair or replace as necessary. If fuel gauge sending unit is okay, go to next step.
  2. Reconnect fuel gauge sending unit connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Move float to empty position. If low fuel indicator does not illuminate, check for open or short in fuel indicator circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If low fuel indicator illuminates, move float above low position. If low fuel indicator goes out, system is operating properly. If indicator does not go out, check for open or short in fuel indicator circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
