Safety Indicator Input Test

  1. Remove the gauge assembly (see GAUGE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Disconnect connector A (30P) and connector C (14P or 16P*) from the gauge assembly.

    *: '04-'06 models

  3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.

  4. With the connectors still disconnected, make these input tests at the connectors.
    • If the test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If the input test proves OK, go to step 5.
SAFETY INDICATOR INPUT TEST (CONNECTORS DISCONNECTED)

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if result is not obtained
A1 WHT/GRN Under all conditions Check for continuity between the A1 terminal and the brake light failure sensor No. 4 (or No. 2(1)) terminal: There should be continuity. An open in the wire

  5. Reconnect the connectors to the gauge assembly, turn the ignition switch ON (II) to keep the system awake and perform the following input tests at the appropriate connector.
    • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If all the input tests prove OK, the gauge internal circuit must be faulty.
