HOMELINK Remote Control System: Test

Turn on the front individual map lights.

• If the front individual map lights come on, the HomeLink power and ground circuits are OK.
• If the front individual map lights do not come on, check for these problems:
  • A blown No. 6 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  • A faulty driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  • An open in the WHT wire between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and roof console.
  • An open in the BLK wire between the roof console and G601.
• If the HomeLink will not open the client's garage, do the following.

1. Make sure the Genie remote transmitter (test remote) has fresh batteries.
2. Clear any previously learned codes by pressing and holding the two outside buttons (A) on the HomeLink unit (B) for about 20 seconds. When the red indicator (C) on the unit starts blinking, release the buttons.

3. Point the test remote transmitter (A) straight up exactly 101.6 mm (4.0 in.) away from the HomeLink unit (B).

4. Press and hold the button on the test remote transmitter (C) and one of the buttons (D) on the HomeLink unit at the same time.
5. Wait about 20 seconds while watching the red indicator (E) on the HomeLink unit.
   • If the red indicator starts out blinking slowly and then blinks faster, the unit is OK. Release the buttons, then clear the learned code (see step  1). Explain to the client that garage door remote transmitters come in two types: fixed code and rolling code. Each type has its own programming method, and each method is covered in the owner's manual.    • If the red indicator does not blink, replace the HomeLink unit (see HOMELINK UNIT REPLACEMENT  ).
