Battery Test

WARNING: A battery can explode if you do not follow the proper procedure, causing serious injury to anyone nearby Follow all procedures carefully and keep sparks and open flames away from the battery
IMPORTANT: Before testing the battery and/or charging system, please view the following TSB regarding use of the ED-18™ Battery Tester. See SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE: ALTERNATOR TESTING .

Required Test Equipment 

Honda Electrical System Analyzer (ED-18 Battery tester) T/N INBED18LLH

Software Version 

Make sure you have the latest software in the ED-18 To check the version on the do this

Using the ED-18 Battery Tester 

NOTE: For set up, customization, and other available features, refer to the ED-18 user's manual.
  1. Remove the bulkhead cover (see ENGINE COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT )
  2. Connect the leads to the positive and negative terminal of the battery
  3. Use the arrow keys to select the battery test, then press enter, then follow the prompts
    NOTE: Make sure to enter the correct cold cranking ampere rating of the battery If the number is not entered correctly, the result will not be accurate
