Select/Reset/Information Switch Test/Replacement

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ), and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or servicing.
  1. Remove the steering wheel (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL ).
  2. Remove the paddle shifter (+) (upshift switch) (see PADDLE SHIFTER REPLACEMENT ).
  3. Disconnect the 12P connector (A) from the select/reset/information switch (B).

  4. Remove the screws (C), then pull out the center trim (D) from the steering wheel.
  5. Remove the screw (E), then pull the select/reset/information switch from the steering wheel.
  6. Measure the resistance between select/reset/information switch 12P connector terminals No. 4 and No. 11 in each switch position according to the table.

    Position Resistance
    About 1, 043 Ω
    SEL/RESET About 33 Ω
    About 363 Ω
  7. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch.
  8. If the switch is OK, but there is a problem with the switch function, check the cable reel subharness and cable reel.
