Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE:

If replacing the steering wheel lock module, connect the diagnostic tool to the car's diagnostic plug, select "BCM Control unit" in the "Various Functions" menu and launch the "Transfer secret key to ECM/ESL" procedure, carefully following the instructions that came with the diagnostic tool

  1. Inspect the parts for damage.
  2. If removed, position the electronic steering wheel lock module (1a) and securely tighten the mounting bolts (1b).
  3. If removed, insert the bulkhead seal (2a) on the shaft, taking care not to damage it while passing it over the cardan joint (2b). Engage the bulkhead seal (2a) in the housing (2c)
  4. If removed, position the heat shield (3a) in the housing and secure it engaging the retaining clip (3b).

  5. Carefully and with the help of an assistant, insert the support with the steering column shaft (1a) in the housing, bringing out the external profile (1b) of the bulkhead seal from the engine compartment side.

  6. Connect the electrical harness connector (1a) for the electric steering wheel lock module (1b).

  7. Position the steering control shafts support (1a) in place and tighten the mounting nuts (1b) and (1c) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  8. Position in the housing the external profile (1a) of the bulkhead seal of the steering control shaft (1b), then tighten the mounting nuts (1c) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  9. Position the A/C liquid line (1a) from the expansion valve to the condenser in its housing.
  10. Connect the fitting (2a) of the A/C liquid line (1a) to the expansion valve, then tighten the relative nut (2b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  11. Close retaining straps (1a) on the A/C liquid line and tighten the relative nuts securely.

    NOTE:

    Ensure that the steering wheel is centered and at turning mid-point

  12. Connect the end of the steering control shaft (1a) to the steering box pinion (1b).
  13. Install a NEW  mounting bolt (2a) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  14. Check that the steering wheel is centered with respect to the wheels and that the steering angle is symmetrical.
  15. Install the A/C suction line. Refer to LINE, A/C SUCTION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  16. Install the engine box reinforcement brace. Refer to BRACE, ENGINE BOX REINFORCEMENT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  17. Install the right front floor air outlet. Refer to OUTLET, AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  18. Install the steering column control module. Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (SCCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  19. Install the engine belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  20. Remove the support and lower the vehicle
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22. Adjust the refrigerant oil level. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  23. Charge the refrigerant system. Refer to R-1234YF REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHARGE .
