Removal And Installation: Installation
NOTE:
If replacing the steering wheel lock module, connect the diagnostic tool to the car's diagnostic plug, select "BCM Control unit" in the "Various Functions" menu and launch the "Transfer secret key to ECM/ESL" procedure, carefully following the instructions that came with the diagnostic tool
- Inspect the parts for damage.
- If removed, position the electronic steering wheel lock module (1a) and securely tighten the mounting bolts (1b).
- If removed, insert the bulkhead seal (2a) on the shaft, taking care not to damage it while passing it over the universal joint (2b). Engage the bulkhead seal (2a) in the housing (2c)
- If removed, position the heat shield (1b) in the housing and secure it engaging the retaining clip (1a).
- Carefully and with the help of an assistant, insert the support with the steering shaft (1a) in the housing, bringing out the external profile of the bulkhead seal (1b) from the engine compartment side.
- Connect the electrical harness connector for the electric steering wheel lock module.
- Install the four steering column to dash frame nuts (2a, 2b) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Secure the wire harness retainers (1a).
- Position the lower left air diffuser (1b) and install all the buttons (1a).
- Position in the housing the external profile of the bulkhead seal of the steering control shaft (1b), then tighten the mounting nuts (2a) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .NOTE:
Ensure that the steering wheel is centred and at turning mid-point
- Connect the end of the steering control shaft (1b) to the steering box pinion (1c).
- Install a NEW mounting bolt (1a) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Check that the steering wheel is centred with respect to the wheels and that the steering angle is symmetrical.
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle
- Connect the negative battery cable.
