MOTORCRAFT Solid State Ignition System: Overhaul: Distributor: Disassembly

  1. Remove distributor cap and rotor. Using suitable gear puller (J-28509), remove trigger wheel (two screwdrivers can be used to pry trigger wheel upward). Remove pin.
  2. Remove sensor retainer and washers from pivot pin on base plate. Remove ground screw from harness tab. Lift sensor assembly from distributor. If replacement is necessary, remove vacuum unit.
