Fuel Injection System - CALIFORNIA: Description
All 1984 Alliance/Encore models manufactured for sale in California are equipped with an air flow controlled electronic fuel injection system manufactured by Bosch. The system determines engine fuel requirements by measuring intake air flow. This information is combined with information from various engine sensors to determine specific fuel requirements for any engine operating condition.
The system consists primarily of the fuel system and the control system. The fuel system includes the fuel pump, fuel filter, pressure regulator, fuel injectors (1 per cylinder) and the cold start injector.
The control system includes the control relay, airflow meter, auxiliary air valve, electronic control unit (ECU), coolant temperature thermo time switch, throttle position switch (TPS), coolant temperature sensor, ignition control module, and oxygen sensor.
