Air Injection System: Description

The Pulse Air Injection Reactor is used on all 4.2L engines. This system is a non-pump type air injection system that is connected into the exhaust manifold (upstream) and the catalytic converter (downstream). The system consists of 2 air control valves, 2 air switching solenoids, 2 check valves and a deceleration valve (manual trans.). See Figure .

Use of the Pulse Air Injection system helps to further oxidize hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.
