Retrieving DTCS

  1. Connect VAG 1551 scan tool. See EQUIPMENT HOOK-UP. Turn ignition on. Access SELECT FUNCTION menu selection screen. Enter 02 to select CHECK DTC MEMORY. Press "Q" key to confirm input.
  2. If NO DTC RECOGNIZED message is displayed on scan tool, enter 06 END OUTPUT. If any DTCS are displayed, print out or write down DTC in order they are output. Proceed to applicable DTC test and perform repair. After repair is complete, clear DTCS and recheck DTCS to ensure fault is repaired. See CLEARING DTCs .
