Coolant Temperature Sensor

  1. Read measured value block display group 003. See FUNCTION MODE 08: READING MEASURED VALUE BLOCK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If coolant temperature is displayed on scan tool but not on gauge, replace instrument cluster. If coolant temperature is not displayed on scan tool, go to next step.
  2. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between instrument cluster Blue, 32-pin harness connector terminals No. 7 (Brown wire) and No. 8 (Blue/Brown wire). For resistance values, see COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, check for open, poor connection or short in coolant temperature sensor circuit. If circuit is okay, replace coolant temperature sensor.
