Car phone Professional: Introduction: Notes

The new permanently installed telephone based on GSM standards (Global Standard for Mobile communications) is fitted on series E39, E46, E53 and E85 vehicles. Everest, a platform that is standardised and used globally (except in Japan), has been created for the permanently installed telephone system. The Everest platform can be used for all permanently installed telephones with MOST and K-bus interfaces (MOST = Media Oriented System Transport, K-bus = body bus).

On E39, E46, E53 and E85 vehicles, the Everest platform is installed with a K-bus interface.

The Everest platform is a control unit that can be configured for various national versions and for different requirements.

The control unit is known as the TCU (Telematic Control Unit).
