SITUATION
When switching off the engine, the "Check Oil" message shows in the instrument cluster Check Control. The engine oil level on the dipstick is satisfactory.
CAUSE
Error in LCM coding data.
CORRECTION
On a customer complaint basis only, recode the LCM using DIS V21.0, or higher.
PROCEDURE
- Using DIS, or MoDiC, select Coding/Programming.
- Select "Car Memory".
- Select "Print List".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to print the list of programmed Car and Key memory features. Use this list to identify any "Lighting" features (Daytime driving lights, home lights, soft ON/OFF) that are not at factory (default) setting.
- At the Coding/Programming main screen, select "ZCS Coding".
- Select "E53 Series".
- Select "Recoding".
- Select "LCM".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to rigidly assign the LCM to the vehicle, and to recode the LCM.
- Reprogram Car and Key Memory to restore any "Lighting" features not at factory (default) setting (Refer to the list printed in step 1).

Under no circumstances should both labor operation numbers be claimed. Attempts to claim both times will result in an unnecessary delay in claim processing and payment.
