Test Cable Modification

INFORMATION

Distribution of the following tool will not be through the Automatic Tool Shipment Program.

Modification of the V-adapter test cable 612 470 (83 30 0 495 194) will allow the test cable to be used for additional testing of components such as the hot-film air mass meter. The cable was initially sent out via the Automatic Tool Shipment program. Refer to SI B04 25 05 .

CONNECTOR HOUSING MODIFICATION

The contact housing on the hot-film air mass meter (1) has 2 retaining lugs (arrows) which prevent test adapter cable 612 470 from being used.

IMPORTANT: Do not hand-hold the housing during modification. Always wear protective eyewear. Be careful not to damage the contacts.

Carefully remove a 9 mm-long by 3 mm-wide section (A) of the connector from both the flat (1) and the curved (2) sides.

Check the modification by placing the connector housing (1) onto a hot-film air mass meter (2). The connector housing should fit as pictured without touching the retaining lugs.

The locking lug (1) on the other end of the adapter test cable may require a slight modification. If this end of the cable does not fit properly, file the locking lug slightly with a file. It is not necessary to completely remove the locking lug.
