FZD MODULE PROGRAMMING ERROR

SITUATION

During vehicle programming (vehicles with integration level 16-03-502 or below), the Roof Function Center module (FZD) programming aborts.

CAUSE

Software error in the FZD.

CORRECTION

Replace FZD after second unsuccessful programming attempt.

PROCEDURE

For vehicle that exhibits condition described in the situation:

After first unsuccessful programming attempt, try to program the FZD a second time.
Was second attempt successful?

YES - repair is complete.

NO - replace FZD with appropriate part found in ETK.
Reprogram vehicle
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software. For information on programming and coding with ISTA/P, refer to CenterNet / TIS / Technical Documentation / Diagnostics and Programming / Programming Documentation.

Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B 04 23 10 ) .

Please claim this consequential repair under the defect code for the repair that required the "initial" programming/encoding procedure.

61 99 000	2 FRU	Work time for replacing roof switch cluster
And:
61 00 732	Refer to KSD2	Additional work after second termination while programming/encoding

Work time labor operation code 61 99 000 is not considered a Main labor operation. Also, since the "work time" FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.

When covered under an applicable limited warranty, claim these repairs using the applicable defect code and labor operations in KSD2.
