Chart D3 Fluid Level Sensor
- Fluid level sensor consists of reed switch and float. There are 2 electrically independent switches inside sensor. Fluid level sensor can cause "BRAKE" or "ANTI-LOCK" light to come on. One switch is normally open. When fluid level is low, switch closes and circuit is grounded.
- BCM receives this grounded signal and activates "BRAKE" light. Other switch, for EBCM, is normally closed and is part of low fluid/pressure loop. When fluid level is low, switch opens, sending a warning input to EBCM. EBCM then will turn on "ANTI-LOCK" light.
- Fluid level sensor conditions which may result in ABS shut down with both the "Anti-Lock" and "Brake" lights on would likely include a stuck float or a damaged/contaminated sensor connector.
