Oil Level Indicator Test

  1. If CHECK OIL LEVEL indicator illuminates continuously when oil level is okay, check indicator lead for a short to ground. If wire is okay, replace oil level module.
  2. If CHECK OIL LEVEL indicator does not illuminate, disconnect 10-pin oil level module connector. Using a voltmeter, check for battery voltage between ground and terminals No. 6, 9 and 10. See Figure -9. If battery voltage is not present at any terminal, check appropriate wiring and bulb.
  3. If battery voltage is present at all terminals, connect jumper wire between terminals No. 5 and 6. If indicator illuminates, proceed to LOW OIL LEVEL SENSOR INPUT TEST. If indicator does not illuminate, check for open in wiring to ground.
