Anti-Lock Brake System: Description

Teves 4-wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Traction Control System (TCS) are designed to prevent wheel lock-up during heavy braking and acceleration slip/traction at speeds less than 25 MPH. The ABS allows driver to maintain steering control while stopping vehicle in shortest distance possible, while TCS uses ABS components to prevent wheels from spinning excessively during acceleration. Major components include the following: pump motor, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) assembly, fluid reservoir with integral filter, wheel speed sensors (4), fluid level sensor, Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) or Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM), brake booster/master cylinder assembly, and BRAKE and ANTI-LOCK warning lights.
