Speedometer & Cruise Control Inoperative, VSS Code Not Set

  1. Disconnect PCM C2 Tan connector. Connect Instrument Panel Tester (J 38522) to PCM connector C2 terminal No. 8 (Dark Green/White wire) and ground. Set signal generator on instrument panel tester to 54 MPH. Turn ignition on. If speedometer reads 54 MPH, check for poor connection at PCM connector C2. If connection is okay, replace PCM.
  2. If speedometer does not read 54 MPH, check for an open or short to ground or voltage in Dark Green/White wire. Also check for poor connection in Dark Green/White wire at IPC connector C1, terminal A2 (Caprice/Impala SS) or connector C2, terminal A4 (Roadmaster).
