Programming Theft Deterrent System Components

If replacing a PCM with a replacement part, after programming, these modules will learn incoming fuel continue password immediately upon receipt of a password message. Once a password message is received and a password is learned, a learn procedure must be performed to change this password again. A PCM which has been previously installed in another vehicle will have learned the other vehicle's fuel continue password and will require a learn procedure after programming to learn current vehicle's password.

  1. Turn ignition on, engine off.
  2. Attempt to start engine, then release key to ON position (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes telltale will turn off.
  4. Turn ignition off and wait 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps  1 through  4 2 more times for a total of 3 cycles in 30 minutes. Vehicle is now ready to relearn Passlock™ sensor data code and/or passwords on next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK position.
  6. NOTE: Vehicle learns Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or password on next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK position. You must turn ignition off before attempting to start vehicle.
  7. Start engine. Vehicle has now learned Passlock™ sensor data code and/or password.
  8. Using scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed.
